No...these are not some kind of rare mutated flowers. These delightfully beautiful botanical creations were made by San Francisco-based artist and architect, Tiffanie Turner. These gorgeous confections are made of Italian crepe paper, measures at 24 to 30 inch and consists of 1,000 petals. Yes, 1,000. So, one can only imagine the sort of dedication and time (35 to 80 hrs) spent in creating these magical floral arrangements. The sheer size of the flowers makes one think of Alice in Wonderland and singing "Golden Afternoon". The petals look so believably soft and silky, you have to remind yourself that these are made from something as simple as paper.
If you're in San Francisco, make sure to catch Tiffanie Turner's exhibition,"Heads", starting May 28th, at Rare Device.
