Fantastic Surreal Photographs by Oleg Oprisco

Photographer Oleg Oprisco produced these stunning images of subjects placed in surreal environments. In order to achieve such gorgeous photographs, Oprisco would spend large amounts of time scouring flea markets and vintage shops, in order to find the perfect props and costumes to use. Such conceptual photography would not be complete without Oprisco sketching out ideas in a sketchbook, before actually capturing the whimsical moments with the camera. He would then spend 2-3 days meticulously setting up each scene; the results are mesmerizing and each image seem to tell a different story.

Among the Fairies

Fairies come to life by the hands of UK sculptor Robin Wight. Constructed out of stainless steel, Wight creates windswept fairies holding onto dandelions in the rain, suspended in midair, weightless and beautiful. To read details on how Wight makes these lovely fairies, visit his website, where you can also purchase a DIY wire starter kit to make your very own fairies!

Paper Birds by Diana Beltran Herrera

These fragile life like birds were made by artist and designer Diana Beltran Herrera. Constructed purely out of paper, each piece is a mix of private commissions for luxury brands that use her work for advertising. If these birds were placed in a tree, one can easily be fooled into thinking they are real.

Herrera is originally from Columbia; she studied ceramic sculptures in Finland and is currently working on her M.A. in fine arts at UWE Bristol. Smart and talented! Check out Flickr for more of Herrera's gorgeous paper birds.

Colorful Liquid Frozen in Time

When colorful splashes of liquid is captured at a shot speed of 1/3500th of a second, something truly awesome is produced. Cassandra Warner and Jeremy Floto recently is responsible for this gorgeous series of photos titled "Clourant." It's as if the liquid sprung from the earth, taking form as sinuous sculptures. These may seem puzzling to several people, but one should appreciate the true beauty and meaning; time and how fleeting it is.

If you would like to see more of the series, please visit their website, Floto+Warner Studio. Prints are available through Vaughan Hannigan.

Murals by Ernest Zacharevic

Artist Ernest Zacharevic just finished a month long residency in Ipoh, Malaysia. During his stay he created several large murals, depicting every day life of the locals, as well as created some amusing and playful paintings, featuring children and animals that interact with the building and its surroundings. Some of these are his previous work, mixed with his most recent.

Anyone know what that liquid in the tied off plastic bag is? It's most likely soda! That particular mural made me giggle and sent a wave of nostalgia through me. Why? In Thailand, when you purchase soda from a street vendor, you can request them to put it in a plastic bag for an easier carrying mode.

I'm normally not a fan of street art, but these are incredibly charming and helps transform run down buildings into something that can be appreciated.

Conceptual Photography by Kylli Sparre

Kylli Sparre was a ballet dancer turned photographer, capturing surreal images using the concept of choreographed motion. Her passion for dance and its influence really shines through these photographs. You can feel the energy and contortion of the posed models, and the dream like environment just makes even more hypnotizing. You can see more of Kylli Sparre's work on facebook!

Makacoon Tribute Art

I remember the first time I ever watched Sailor Moon, it was dubbed in Thai. Then, a few years later, I watched the American version. Fast forward to a couple of years ahead , when I was finally able to buy the entire series collection online, I discovered how much I was missing out on. I always prefer to watch my favorite anime in Japanese, anyway. But when I watched Sailor Moon in Japanese, I fell in love with the series even more.

With the premier of the reboot not far off (YAY!), fan artist Makacoon created alternate versions of the Sailor Senshi. The results are so cool, that I wish this version would be made into the reboot. What do you think??

Also, check out earlier art work from Makacoon. See any of your favorites?
